Music at Unitarian Congregation of NigaraChoir Director: Penny BlakeAccompanist: Terri Pothier"Life is a song. Love is the music." ~Author Unknown
Music is an important part of our services. Lifting our voices in song gives us the spirit that binds us together in caring community. We are ably helped in this by Terri Pothier, who provides piano preludes and postludes to the service and accompanies the hymns. From time to time we have also welcomed special guest artists who have brought new sounds and skills to the congregation. Whether professional or volunteer, we deeply appreciate the contribution music makes to the life of our congregation. ChoirOur volunteer choir has greatly enriched our congregation, enabling us to explore many different kinds of music: serious, popular, jazz to name a few; and music from diverse cultures around the world as well as Western traditions. The choir is open to any interested singer, from young to old, experienced to beginner. The choir meets on Sunday mornings at 9:55 according to this schedule, and sings at services about once or twice per month. Feel free to e-mail Penny Blake to find out more about our choir. You'll be glad you did! Ottawa singer and songwriter, Tony Taylor, discussed his music and performed for the congregation. He has provided us with material on two of his songs, "Circle Song" and "Highway of Heroes". |
