Bio for Penny BlakePnina Blake, known to us as Penny, began her musical studies in Toronto where she received her Associate in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music. After moving to the Niagara region she continued in her musical studies at Brock and also branched into composition, studying with the eminent composer Srul Irving Glick. An accomplished singer, she has performed with the Canadian Opera Company, many local choirs, and enjoys doing recitals in Toronto and the Niagara region. After completing a CD of solo song, "The Heart Sings", devoted to Jewish folk music, new composing ventures have found Pnina delving into the realm of choral music. "Candles are Dancing" won first place in its category in the prestigious Amadeus Christmas and Chanukah Song Writing Competition and has been recorded by the Niagara Vocal Ensemble on its CD, A Niagara Noel. She enjoys directing our congregational choir and the choir of B'Nai Israel here in St. Catharines. To learn more, see Pnina's website. |
